Discernment in the Noise

Jul 6, 2025    Rev. Baly Botten

In our exploration of discernment, we're reminded that true wisdom is spirit-revealed, not self-discovered. The passage from 1 Corinthians 2 illuminates how the Spirit searches the depths of God, allowing us to access His mind through Christ. This profound truth challenges us to shift our approach to decision-making, moving from a self-reliant 'what should I do?' to a Spirit-led 'what are You revealing?'

We're encouraged to embrace stillness and attentiveness, recognizing that God often speaks in whispers rather than spectacles. This invites us to cultivate a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, learning to differentiate His voice amidst the noise of our own desires, cultural pressures, and even deceptive influences. As we practice this holy differentiation, we're called to examine our hearts, asking ourselves how indifferent we truly are to outcomes, and how open we are to God's will, wherever it may lead us.
